The Bundesliga is the top division of German football. It was only born in 1963, to bring the best clubs of a country together in a single professional league, after a time when the champion was decided in a tournament between the winners of the regional leagues. The first season, 1963/64, was won by 1. FC Köln.
Bayern Munich is the big name on the roll of honour, but the competition also had the Borussia Mönchengladbach era of the 1970s and titles for Hamburg, Werder Bremen, Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund. And it has produced some of European football’s biggest surprises: Kaiserslautern, who in 1997/98 became champions straight after being promoted from the second tier; Wolfsburg, champions in 2008/09; and Bayer Leverkusen, who in 2023/24 won the first title in their history without losing a single league match.
Over a long season, a prediction league is won through consistency. On WisePaul, each match locks at kick-off, other people’s predictions only become visible once the match has locked, results come in on their own and the table is recalculated after every match, with recent form, scoring streaks and progress matchday by matchday. Anyone joining while the season is under way counts only the remaining matches.
Request your league and we set up the competition and the rules for you; the organiser gets access and an invite code to share with the company, the family or the group of friends. With participants in several countries, everyone sees kick-offs in their local time, in 7 languages.
